DATA ANALYSIS AND RESULTS
Introduction
This chapter presents the result of data analysis of the study. This study was poised to find out the influence of parents’ variables on pupil’s academic performance in English Language in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State. For the purpose of this study, one hundred questionnaires were administered; however, eighty nine questionnaires were properly filled and returned, a return rate of eighty-nine percent (89%).
The results of the data analysis are represented in such a way to highlight the background variables, research question, test of hypotheses and summary of findings. All the hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance.
Background Variables (Demographic Statistics)
Participants were asked to indicate their gender as shown on table 1.
Table 1 shows that 33(37.1%) of the respondents were males, while 56(62.9%) were females. This shows that a total of 89 teachers in Irepodun Local Government Area participated in the study.
Participants were asked to indicate their academic qualification as shown on table 2.
As shown on table 2, 2(2.2%) of the respondents held Senior Secondary School certificates, 5(5.6%) held National Diploma/Nigerian Certificate of Education certificate, 89(89.9%) held Higher National Diploma/Bachelors degree certificate while 2(2.2%) held Masters certificate.
