The study's objective is focused on enrolment and completion pattern of female adult learners attending adult literacy programs in Gordon Dutse women centre,Kano state.. The study assess the benefits of female adult literacy programs in Nigeria, the frequency of female enrolment and completion in adult literacy programs in Nigeria, the factors affecting female enrolment and completion pattern in adult literacy programs and factors affecting female enrolment and completion pattern in adult literacy programs. The research adopted the survey descriptive design and with the aid of convenience sampling method, the researcher selected One-hundred and fifty (150) participant who are women students of Gordon Dutse women centre,Kano state.
Self- structured questionnaire was issued to the respondent of which one-hundred and forty-one (141) responses were retrieved and validated for the study.. The study made use of of descriptive analysis and inferential statistics where data from field survey was analyzed using simple percentage, mean and standard deviation presented in frequencies and tables. Hypothesis test was conducted using Chi-Square Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS v.23). Findings of the study reveals that that there is still an average frequency of female enrollment and completion of literacy programme in Gordon Dutse women centre,Kano state. From the result of the study, there are so many benefits attached to female enrollment and completion of literacy programmes such as: Empowerment of Women, Enhanced Economic Opportunities, increased Civic Participation, Family Well-being: and social integration.
However several factors has affected female enrolment and completion pattern in adult literacy programs includes Sociocultural Norms, Economic Constraints, Family Responsibilities, Early Marriage and Parenthood, Social Stigma and Lack of awareness about the importance of education or the availability of adult literacy programs. The study among others recommends The government and other stakeholders in women affairs and development should strive to create conducive enabling, socio-political and economic conditions which will discourage early marriage, societal preference for male children and the traditional belief that the position of a woman is in the kitchen. More so, Learning centers should offer flexible class schedules that take into account women's responsibilities at home.
