3.9.3 Experimental Procedure
The groundnut pod was fed into the machine through the hopper, the operator mount on the machine seat and pedal it as the operator pedal and transmits the force via the chain drive to the shelling unit and shelling of the groundnut was achieved. The shelled groundnut seed was collected through the out let. The time taken for each operation was determined by stop watch. The shelling speed was obtained by a tachometer to ascertain the speed of the pedal operated groundnut Sheller. The procedure was repeated for all selected operators.
3.9.4 Instrumentation Used for the Experiment
The following instrument where used for this project work
i. Digital Venier Caliper
This is a visual aid that allows the user to measure more precisely than could be done unaided when reading a uniformly divided straight or circular measurement scale. The model number is and the sensitivity for digital venier caliper is 0.1mm to 150mm. The digital venier caliper was used to measure the minor, major and thickness of the groundnut pod.
