4.2. Discussion
4.2.1 Physical Properties of Groundnut Pods
The average value for length width, thickness, dimension, geometric and arithmetic mean diameter, sphericity and surface area of groundnut and surface area of groundnut measured moisture contact 7% wit basis (d.b) are given in Table 4.1. The average marginable of the length, breadth and thickness diameter for groundnut were 28.24, 11.46 and 10.65 respectively. According to EL-Sayed et al. (2001) reported that Egyptian groundnut variety which have the following dimension, length, width, thickness , geometric diameter and mass 12.60 – 24.85 mm, 5.35- 11.25mm, 4.40 – 10.30mm, 7.19- 13.77mm and 0.22- 1.17g, respectively. He also reported three varieties of groundnut pod obtained from three different counties (China, Americas and Egypt) showed the following range of 2.17 and 2.13g of mass, respectively. The corresponding average dimension values of African muting as reported by Buruba et al. (2007) for length, width and thickness were 16.6762, 11.5193 and 9.9805mm respectively.
4.2.2 Effect of Operator Parameter Threshing Efficiency
Table 4.2 indicates that threshing efficiency increases with the decrease in operating speed of the operators. The higher the threshing efficiency associated with the operator could be attributed to his lower knuckle length which probably responsible for his higher pedaling rate than the other operators with lower knuckle length and hence result into lower operating speed which aids threshing.
