This research work entitled “An Assessment of Problems and prospects of rabbit production (a case study of Batagarawa Local Government Area of Katsina State)” was carried out to assess the problems and prospects of rabbit production in Batagarawa Local Government. The data was collected using questionnaires and verbal interviews. Sixty questionnaires were used for interviewing the respondents. The result shows that 35% of the farmers interviewed are rabbit producers, they depend on farming as their main occupation.
The research identified that the problems faced by the rabbits' rearers in the study area are disease outbreaks, problems of finance, poor extension services. The prospects of raising rabbits in the study area include the provision of employment, primary sources for meat and enhancement of income to the people, and my recommendation include: government should give out loan to livestock farmers especially rabbits producers to improve their production, increase the number of extension officers so as to raise the level of farmers awareness in the study area, enhance their knowledge of rabbit production as well know the management techniques that will help the farmers profiteer more.
