The tx statistics is used when we have small sample of less than 30. The sample value of tx is estimated by dividing the estimate bi by its standard error. This value is compared to the theoretical (tabular) value of t, which defines the critical region in a two tailed test with n = k degree of freedom. If t calculated is greater than t critical, we reject the null hypothesis (H0) and accept the alternative hypothesis (H1).
Otherwise, if t calculated is less than t critical, we accept the null hypothesis H0) and reject the alternative hypothesis (Hi).
