2.6 DATA COLLECTION
a. Data collection form (Appendix V) was used to collect information about the prescribing pattern of NSAIDs in the Pharmacy Unit of General Outpatient Department (GOPD)- Family Medicine. Prescriptions, covering a period of six months between November 2013 and April 2014 were used for the study.
b. Trained research assistant were used to administer the pretested questionnaires (Appendix III) to eligible residents to elicit sociodemographic characteristics of the respondents and information on NSAIDs use.
c. Pharmacists in community practice were distributed self administered questionnaire (Appendix IV) to elicit information on their demographic information and dispensing characteristics of NSAIDs in their Pharmacy.
2.7 PRETESTING OF QUESTIONNAIRES
Twenty of Residents questionnaires (5%) ware pre-tested in Afon in Asa Local Government Area, a neighbouring town to Ilorin metropolis which is in the same state. Pre-testing will ensure the instrument could be used to measure intended items and able to produce reliable information which is reproducible on repeated use. It is also important to correct some question items which may be ambiguous to the respondents and could be interpreted differently by the respondents. The pre tested questionnaires were also analyzed and necessary amendments were done before administration to the intended respondents.
Five Pharmacists questionnaires were pretested in Offa, Offa Local Government of Area I Kwara state among the Community Pharmacists.
2.8 DATA ANALYSIS
The data from the questionnaires will be sorted and properly checked to ensure that the questionnaires were filled correctly and completely. Data will be coded and analyzed with the computer using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software package version 16.
Analyzed data will be presented in form of frequency tables, percentages, graphs for descriptive statistic Chi-square and odd ratio from logistic regression were used to test for significant associations between categorical variables. P value less than 0.05 were adjudged significant in relevant situations.
