Table 14, on “Research and Development is an important innovative issue in the Nigerian construction industry†shows a “positive†mean score of 3.98 from the respondents’ reactions. The issue that “most building/construction firms in Nigeria do invest in Research and Development shows a “negative†2.05 mean score from the respondents opinion. Also that “professional bodies in the Nigerian construction industry have been investing in Research and Development†reveal a “negative†mean score of 2.03; that “Research and Development has really improved the state of the Nigerian construction industry†shows a “negative†2.43 mean score response from respondents.
We can deduce from the above survey, that the Stakeholders in the industry do not encourage innovation through research and development.In table 15, “Patterning/collaboration is really practiced and effective in the Nigerian construction industry’ shows a “negative†mean score of
1.84 from the respondents’ responses; also that “there are enough innovative policies, practices and regulations that encourage innovation in the Nigerian construction industry†shows a “negative†mean score of 2.28 response from the respondents.
On the issue that “in the Nigerian construction industry, clients are really encouraging innovative practices and processes†has a “negative†mean score of 2.29 responses. The issue that “government regulations support and facilitate innovation/creativity in the Nigerian construction industry’ has a “negative†reaction from respondents with a mean score of 1.59; Also that “Construction Industry contractors are very innovative in the industry’ shows a “negative†mean score of 1.80.
On a general note the above survey shows that innovative construction processes and practices are yet to attain an acceptable level in the industry.
