2.4.3 METHOD STATEMENT / CONSTRUCTION METHODOLOGY
2.4.3.1 Chudley and Greeno (2006) state thus: - “A method statement precedes preparation of the project programme and contains the detail necessary for construction of each element of a building. It is prepared from information contained in the contract documents (Architects drawings; Engineers drawings; schedules; specifications; bill of quantities).It also functions as a brief to site staff and operatives in sequencing activities, indicating resources requirements and determining the duration of each element of construction. It complements construction programming by providing detailed analysis of each activity.â€
Method statement is the vocal cord of the construction methodology to be used for a given project.
2.4.3.2 CONSTRUCTION PROGRAMMES
A programme is really a forecast of the job or operation and its essential points should contain: the best method or plan of carrying out the various operations; the order or sequence in which the operations are to be carried out; and the time allocation to each operation.
2.4.3.3 Its provisions help in achieving orderly site activities devoid of congestion, wrong ordering of materials and machinery that can lead to health and safety concerns and implications
