    • 3.5    Method of data collection
      As stated earlier, a sample of two hundred and ninety (290) respondents were used and data were collected by means of structured questions that were self-administered and personal interviews. Structured questionnaires were used to reduce cost, save time and avoid prejudice.
      The first five (5) questions detailed personal information of the respondent. The rest centered on issues related to employee participation in decision making and its impact on organizational productivity.
      3.6    Instruments of data collection
      The sources of data to this study are primary and secondary data. Secondary information for this research was mainly through various publications culled from the internet, textbooks, journals, reports prepared by various universities. It has been scrutinized to assess its suitability, reliability, adequacy and accuracy.
      Primary data for this study was collected through administration of questionnaires to the staffs (managers, officers and clerks) of Apex Paints Ltd, Abeokuta-Lagos road, Abeokuta Ogun Nigeria.
      3.7    Method of data analysis
      Data analysis can be defined as consisting of three concurrent flows of activity that is data reduction, data display and a conclusion drawing/verification part.
      Data analysis can also be said to be a process of inspecting, cleaning, transferring and modeling data with the goal of highlighting useful information, suggesting conclusion and supporting decision-making.
      Various analytical tools and software such as pie charts, bar charts, tables, and Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) software were used in analyzing data for this study.
      Data collected were analyzed using frequencies and percentages. These frequencies and percentages enabled the researcher to clearly represent true data characteristics and findings with a great deal of accuracy. Interpretation and analysis of data was also used to describe items in tables and charts used for this study.
      Descriptive statistics such as tables and simple percentage analysis were employed in presenting the data and results of our analysis. However, in order to test the study’s hypotheses and provide answers to the research questions, multiple regression analysis was employed. The multiple regression analysis was employed in explaining the interactions among the independent variables as well as highlight and identifying the importance of each or group of variables on the dependent variable.
      The model formulated with aid of regression formula is given below:
      Yi =b0+b1X1i  + b2X2i + b3x3i +…+bnxn
      Yi = Dependent variable — Market
      Xi1…n= Independent variable – Innovation.
      3.8 Reliability, Validity and Generalibility Huff (2008)
      Described Reliability as an indication of the degree of stability or consistency of measurement. That is, it is the consistency of scores obtained by the same person when they are re-examined with the same test on different occasions on different of equivalent items under other variable examine condition. Reliability indicates how much confidence the researcher can place on the result of the test. If this research is carried out by another researcher, it will give the same result.
          Validity
      According to Huff (2008), Validity determines whether the research truly measures that which it is intended to measures or how truthful the research results are. Moreover, all procedures for determining test validity are considered with the relationship between performance on the test and independently observable facts about the behavior characteristics and other procedures. In order to ensure the validity of this research, questionnaire will be adopted and administer to staffs in different department within the hotel to get accurate data.
          Generalibility
      Describes the extent to which research findings can be applied to settings other than that which they were originally tested. This research if carryout in another area or by another researcher will yield the same result. This means that the result from this research can be generalized.
