To ensure that biasness is removed or is minimized and a fair representation is obtained, the population of the study was stratified in to two major target groups namely Change Managers and Employees. To select respondents from each stratum, simple random sampling design was employed. Because of the homogeneity of staff within a job categories and difference between job classifications, stratified random sampling is adopted. The selection of staff from each job cadre was made following proportional allocation of stratified random sampling techniques.
3.8 Data Collection
This study employed both primary and secondary data. The method of data collection was structured and unstructured one. The questionnaire intended to capture the change management strategies/characteristics of the study in the selected Mobile telecommunication Companies within Ilorin Metropolis. Information relating to growth, employment size and performance and their general perception of change management practices was sought in the questionnaire. The questionnaire was designed in such a way as to get responses and analyses easily. Questionnaires were used to collect data which were validated through a pilot study. The study in addition, made use of questionnaire which shall be administered to each member of the sampled population. It consisted of both open and close-ended questions. The close-ended questions provided more structured responses to facilitate tangible recommendations. The closed ended questions will be used also to test the rating of various attributes and this helped in reducing the number of related responses in order to obtain more varied responses. The open-ended questions will provide additional information that may not be captured in the close-ended questions.
3.9 Method of Data Analysis
Before processing the responses, the completed questionnaire guides will be edited for completeness and consistency. The information generated was then interpreted and explained. The data grid prepared for quantitative data shall be tested using regression analysis. The study shall used open-ended questions in the questionnaire administered to the Managers and employees to measure the performance level in the components of dependent variable after a structural change. Since the study is structured to consist of two components (the rate of employment) of the dependent variable (Business growth) and one independent variable, that is, strategic change management practices, it becomes necessary to establish the relationship between each dependent variable and the independent variable. The use of inferential statistics (simple regression) will assists in regressing each component of dependent variable with the independent variable and established the relationship between them and measured whether the observed changes in the components are significant to establish growth and performance in the sector.
