    • CHAPTER THREE
      METHODOLOGY
This chapter described in detail how data was obtained, processed, analyzed and interpreted so as to answer the researcher’s questions. The sub-sections discussed covered the following area: research design, population of the study, sample and sampling techniques, instrumentation, validity of the instrument, reliability of the instrument, procedure for data collection and method of data analysis.
      Research Design
The study adopted descriptive research design of survey type for the study. This design is deemed appropriate because it enables the researcher to obtain information relating to the availability and utilization of computers in teaching Business Studies from teachers and students.
      Population, Sample and Sampling Technique
The population for this study consisted of all the Business Studies teachers and students in the whole of Public Secondary Schools in Kajola Local Government, Oyo State. Proportional sampling technique was used to select 10 public secondary schools out of 15 in the Local Government Area, representing a sample percentage of 67%. Out of 15 Business Studies teachers in all the secondary schools sampled, 10 respondents were proportionally selected, representing a sample percentage of 67% and out of 250 Business Studies Students from the 10 sampled public schools, 90 were proportionally selected, representing a percentage of 36%.
      Instrumentation
This study used instrument tagged “Availability and Utilization of Computers in Teaching and Learning of Business Studies Questionnaire (AUCTLBSQ) to elicit information from the respondents (teachers & students).
The questionnaires were divided into two parts: Section ‘A’ and ‘B’. Section ‘A’ was used to gather information concerning demographic data of the respondents, whole section ‘B’ was used to gather information from the respondents on availability and utilization of computers in the teaching and learning of Business Studies in Public Secondary Schools in Kajola Local Government, Oyo State.
The drafted questionnaire (AUCTLBSQ) was presented to the project supervisor and three experts on the field of Educational Management and Educational Measurement. Evaluation, Faculty of Education, University of Ilorin, for the purpose of validating its content. Test-retest method was used to ascertain the reliability of the instrument through the process of administering 20 copies of the instrument to 20 respondents (including teachers/ students), drawn from the sampled Local Government, but outside the selected schools within a time of two weeks interval. The data gathered was analyzed using Pearson Product – Moment Correlation Statistics and Correlation Coefficient of 71r was obtained. This indicated that the instrument was reliable.
      Method for Data Collection
The study started the process with a request for clearance to conduct a research from Institute of Education, University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara State and later gave out introductory letter. The introductory letter and questionnaires was then taken to the selected public schools in Kajola Local Government, Oyo State by the researcher with the help of research assistants well trained. The Vice Principal Academic was used to facilitate the dissemination of the questionnaires to their teachers and students and the researcher collected the completed questionnaires back on the spot to avoid misplacement of the questionnaire. This afforded the researcher the opportunity to give detailed explanations on the instruments and also have high returns of the distributed questionnaires.
      Method of Data Analysis
All the data from the study was collected and coded to classify the responses given into categories for ease of analysis. The coded data were analyzed using descriptive statistics of frequency counts and percentage to analyze the demographic data and respondents’ responses.
