3.0     DATA COLLECTION
3.1     INTRODUCTION
    The importance of collection data on the pavement and sub-structure on which it is built is to assess the type, classification, characteristic of traffic and to know the nature of surfacing of the Oloje road in order to obtain useful information with respect to the Engineering properties of materials used in its (Pavement) construction and the maintenance need of suck area.
3.2     THE STUDY AREA
The study area is located at Ilorin West Local Government Area, Kwara State Ilorin.
This is made up of rural area but to study
    OLOJE ROAD –ILORIN
    The study is to investigate into the level of service of the road.
3.3    NATURE OF TRANSPORTATION SERVICE IN THE AREA
Transport service in this area are provided by a diversity of vehicles the for –hire vehicle fleet consist of taxis, commercial motorcycles. Ownership of personal means of transport is also important in the area 58% of house hold possessing at least one personal means of transport. Transport service is restricted to commercial motorcycles mainly due to poor condition of the road in the area.
3.4    METHOD OF DATA COLLECTION
    The raw material that was collected from various sources of data collection i.e. question are information questionnaire method: is used to know the cause of study area, the type of failure such as portholes, and bad drainage etc.
    Interview method: this method is carried out by investigating the villages of such area.
3.4.1    FAILURE OBSERVED ON OLOJE ROAD – ILORIN

3.5     LIMITATION OF THE METHODOLOGY
    One major limitation to sources of this research was lack of good and proper record seeking in the local government that could have helped the researcher for smooth collection of data
