Research questions 4: The benefits of family planning services to women
of child bearing ag: table 4.21-4.25 and figure 4 were used in
answering the questions
Table 4.21-4-25 revealed that greater
percentage of the respondents. 92% agreed that it helps the couple to
have children by choice not by chance in children in table 4.22 and
figure: also 88% of the family member and the community as a whole and
in table 4.24, 85% agreed that it improved the socio-economics status of
the family, 75 of the respondents, in table 4.25 are of the opinion
that having many children affects the wellbeing of family members
negatively.
The above findings is in support of the assertion
made by Tope Ajayi (2004) that having many children is really a great
burden that tends to drain the financial resource leading to poverty,
economic hard ship, and drop in the standard of living.
This has
gone to confirm that greater number of the respondents has recognized
the benefits of family planning but their utilization of the services
were influenced by their beliefs, cost and attitude of their husbands.
The above assertation agree with ukaegbu (1998) who noted that one of
the causes of low interest of couple towards family planning is the
belief that children are given by God and should never be rejected.
Roblinkt (2003) also stated that family planning saves lives of women
and children there by improving the live of all. He further noted that
providing all women and men of reproductive and with a choice of
contraceptive methods safely and effectively can have significant
impact on lives of the people and the community as a whole

family planning methods among women of child bearing age (15-45years) in
Moba urban, Moba Local Government in Otun Ekiti.
The study have
five chapter one comprised of background of the study, statement of the
problems, objective (broad and specific) significance of study,
operational definition of terms, limitation, delimitation and the
research question. Chapter two was for review of the related literature
which focused on general review, critical review, conceptual/theoretical
framework.
Chapter three revealed the instruments, used for the
study where 120 questionnaires, were developed and distributed to the
respondents after being validated 100 copies were properly filled and
returned. The data were presented using percentages and analyzed in
frequency table and graphical presentations in chapter four. Chapter
five deals with the discussion, of finding, summary, conclusion
implication and recommendations.
5.2 CONCLUSION
From the
result of the analysis the researcher drawn the following conclusion
that women of child bearing age (15-45years) In Moba urban were aware of
family planning services and their positive benefits but several
factors such as false beliefs, culture/religion and attitude of the
husband prevented most of them from utilizing the methods. The low
utilization of the methods were also as a result of the fact that they
were afraid of the side effects and the cost of treatment.
Therefore the researchers concluded that the poor utilization of the
family planning methods by the women of child bearing age (15-45%years)
in Moba urban was not due to ignorance of the available method in the
area, but were due to misinformation husband opposition, high cost of
the services and wrong beliefs about the complications resulting from
the use of family planning devices, and so proper counseling should be
given to the child-bearing aged women at various health facilities to
increase the rate of patronage.
IMPLICATION OF THE STUDY
The
analysis from the data collected showed that most of the women of child
bearing age (15-45years) in Moba urban were aware of different methods
of family planning but their false beliefs, culture, religion and
attitude of their husband prevented them from utilizing the method.
The implication of this is the need to organize workshops and seminars
to health educate both the women and even the husband on the
effectiveness and safety of these family planning methods so as to
disabuse their minds. Also these women should be made to realize that
the little amount spend to space their children is not comparable to the
amount they would spend in taking care of many children they are
bringing into the world. Mother minds should also be disabused about
side effect and complication resulting from the use of family planning
devices through proper counseling.
5.5 RECOMMENDATIONS

More family planning providers should be trained and distributed to
various areas especially the rural areas to disseminate family planning
information to the rural dweller.

- Family planning service should be made free so that both the low socio economic family members benefit also.
-
More family planning clinics should be made available and closer to the
people at the grass root, and also be well equipped with various types
of commodities for the people to promote their utilization of the
services
