4.2.3 Immunization status of the under-five children Table 4.3 presents the full immunization status of under-five children who were involved in the study in Araba and Kalmalodistricts.
The immunization status of the under-five children that were involved in the study reveals that majority of the children 54 (51.9%) were immunized up to date according to the Expanded Programme on Immunization Card (EPI Card), and this was confirmed by at least 34(32.7%) of the mothers whose children were fully immunized. BCG vaccine was up to date in 34 (32.7%) of the wards and close to half 48 (46.2%) had BCG scar being visible on their upper arm with 4 (3.9%) others who were no immunized according to report.
On vitamin A supplement administration, majority of the children received vitamin A supplement according to EPI card 57 (54.8%) followed by those who were administered vitamin A as reported by their mothers 39 (37.5 %). Only 8 (7.6 %) of the children had not received vitamin A supplementation.
