    • SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

      The significance of the study of any research is usually measured in the area of benefit, usefulness and application of result of the finding or revelation made. This study is important because it will help to identify the challenges facing the use of ICT elements for teaching computer science education in senior secondary school. The beneficiaries of this study will include the government, teachers, students, school management, and administrators and our nation at large.

      Through the identified challenges, the government will find grounds to assist in providing necessary training as well as needed ICT elements for use in schools. This study will enable school administrators and management to re-enforce plans towards efficient and improved delivery. It will help teachers to upgrade training towards compliance and competence in the usage of ICT elements. It will enhance the learning, performance and professional proficiency of students. At large, our nation will reap the reward of having standard school system capable of producing globally competent students well taught and able to solve problems facing her ICT sectors.

      SCOPE OF THE STUDY

      This project is limited to selected secondary schools in Awka metropolis in Anambra State (Private and Public). This project therefore is set out to investigate on the challenges facing the use of ICT elements for teaching computer science education in senior secondary schools. The number of secondary schools in Awka metropolis used for this study was limited to 10 schools. Both students and computer science teachers were used for the study. There are many aspects of ICT but this study is delimited to ICT elements.

       

      Research Questions

      1. What are the challenges facing the use of ICT elements in Anambra State Senior Secondary schools.
      2. To what extent are the ICT elements available for teaching in Anambra Senior State Secondary Schools?
      3. Are teachers and students in Anambra State Senior Secondary Schools competent with using ICT elements?
