      ICT

ICT (Information and Communication Technology) is often an extended synonym for [IT] Information Technology but it is a more specific term that stress the role of unified communication and the integration of telecommunications. ICT is defined as a generic term referring to technologies which are being used for collecting, storing, editing and passing of information in various forms (Jagar and Lokman 2009).

ICT is also defined as advancement in technology that provides a rich global resources and collaborative environment for dissemination of ICT literacy materials, interactive discussions, research information and international exchange of ideas, which are critical for advancing meaningful education initiative, training high skilled labor force and understanding issues related to economic development (Ololobe, Ugbu and Ossai 2006 p.649)

      ICT ELEMENTS

ICT elements are equipment or interconnected system of equipment that is used in the automatic acquisition, storage, manipulation, management, control, display, switching and transmission of information (FRN 2014, P.9)

ICT elements are diverse set of technological tools and resources used to communicate, to create and disseminate, store and manage information examples include computers, internet, projectors, printers, broadcasting technologies (radio and televisions), telephones, mobile phones , photocopiers, robots among others. There is consistent international trend to explore and utilize ICT element to facilitate the teaching learning process in the class room.

The use of ICT element in teaching computer science cannot be overemphasized. There is need for teachers to learn and master this innovation as this will serve as tools for efficient learning. To promote genuine change in the class room and produce competent professionals, teachers must alter their old methods and strategies and adapt modern method of using ICT elements which has proved to be effective than previous ones.

It is widely accepted that the use of ICT element in teaching learning process has great potential. In fact, it is the most important way by which our Nation and school system can precisely meet her aspirations within reasonable time and resources. According to Nwanna (2009) ICT elements are applied in education to bring maximum and noticeable effectiveness in teaching learning situations. Our students need to use the latest learning technology to make an effective education in the twenty first century [Jane Roser 2014]. ICT element has been a term of increasing significance during the last decade. In using ICT elements, Students learn new concepts and reinforce previously learned concepts.
