2.0 UNDER CVMIMS REVIEW
CVMIMS utilization has been on the rise since the late 1980’s and it’s hard to find any large company involved in equipment or vehicle maintenance that does not use a specialized software package to assist in its equipment maintenance efforts.
2.1 BACKGROUND OF CVMIMS
The type of computerized maintenance management system earlier designed only takes care of a particular document book. It is in form of a search engine which can be used to search a sentence or paragraph inside the document in question. For instance, if somebody is looking for a certain paragraph or sentence in that document, he/she only needs to type the key-word inside the dialogue box provided and click on the search, the system will automatically display the location of paragraph. The system was used to capture the manual of a central lathe machine and it makes the working on lather machine easy.
Another system which was designed in form of computerized maintenance management system is an improvement on the one earlier designed. It was designed to take care of multiple documents/books but also like search engine. It also takes care of record keeping and date modification. Lathe machine, milling and grinding machine manuals is involved in this system unlike the first design which took care of only the lathe machine.
2.2 CVMIMS REVIEW
In the present work, great improvement is done on the previous works. In addition, to the search engine done in the previous works this current system includes the following:
i. Effective management system of vehicle maintenance
ii. Sufficient database to take care of vehicle and owners data/information.
iii. Ability to send via email or SMS to owners of vehicles on the current works to be done on their vehicle
iv. Deployment of the system to the cloud which will enable it to be on the internet and accessible anywhere in the world.
v. Installation of car tracker was done to monitor the mileage of the vehicle.
2.3 MODULES IN THE SYSTEM
The computerized vehicle maintenance information management system has the following module:
2.3.1 EQUIPMENT LIST MODULE
This module of the computerized maintenance system is taken care of the database structure of the system. In this module, all the information concerning all the vehicles being managed is taken care of information such as owners name, owners, address, vehicle brand and model, plate number, drivers license number and expiring data, roadwork thinness number etc. are taken care of in this module.
2.3.2 DOCUMENT MANAGEMENT
This is also one of the vehicles in the computerized vehicle maintenance management system and it is deals with the storage of manuals of the entire vehicle which are under management. All the manuals of vehicle involved can be accessed and used here. This module also serves as a search engine because any information inside the manual can be just typing the key-word and then clicks on the search icon.
