CHAPTER SEVEN: PRODUCT AND PRODUCT EVALUATION
7.1 INTRODUCTION
The expectation of every system developer is to see that the conceptual system is brought to a reality. Therefore, at this phase the system was fully developed. The evaluation of the proposed system was considered in more details in this chapter. This involves the difficulties encountered, the successes in line with the proposed objectives.
7.2 EVALUATION OF PRODUCT
The evaluation of the product will be based on the objectives which are to identify current challenges faced by tourism management system in Nigeria, to analyze data warehouse concepts in the implementation of tourism database management, to select suitable methodology in implementation of tourism management system, to design database and dimensional model for tourism management system, to implement tourism management system using the concept of data warehouse, to specify a data model for the system using appropriate tools, Designing a user friendly oracle APEX interface for user interaction, update, delete, and adding of information for example location, traveler and other relevant information, Creating an APEX application to store and manage any relevant information for the project, Combining the designs in the aforementioned objectives to form a system and to test the system, to make decision.
The objectives of the proposed system was fully met to satisfy the proposed requirement. Embarking on the proposed system several issues were encountered such as challenges of understanding the proposed system, getting of information about the proposed system, getting people view on the proposed system. And one the greatest problem faced was that of losing a full developed system twice. Starting the development from the scratch was actually a tough time for the developer.
The developer was able to resolve the problem by refusing to give up, believing that coming this far requires all concentration to develop the system. One of the strategy the developer had was the backing up of the data used in developing the system. Moreover, the greatest lesson learnt in developing this system is that embarking on a new project requires a proper planning, challenges will arise therefore the developer must be prepared for the challenges and refusing to give up at the point of challenges is the hallmark to success.
