1.5 RESEARCH HYPOTHESES
The validity of the hypotheses tested are:
Ho: there is no effect of school feeding program on pupil’s enrolment and academic performance in primary schools
Hi: there is effect of school feeding program on pupil’s enrolment and academic performance in primary schools
1.6 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The
findings will be beneficial to the government and education
stakeholders by showing how school feeding program assisted in
guaranteeing learners’ regular school attendance and active
participation in school activities. It will reveal the significant role
played by school feeding program on attainment of universal primary
education on the way to realizing, Millennium Development Goals (MDG)
and educational vision. The study will also awaken teachers to maximize
their teaching efforts as the pupils are ready and motivated to learn.
The study may also form a base for further studies for scholars
interested in the area.
1.7 SCOPE OF THE STUDY
This research work
will be focused on School feeding and academic performance of primary
school pupils. Specifically, it will be focused on finding out the
influence of school feeding program on attendance and academic
performance of students of students, analyzing the effect of school
feeding program on pupil’s enrolment and academic performance in primary
schools and examining the challenges of Nigeria school feeding program
and proffer solution. This research work will be conducted in obio akpor
local government area of Rivers State, primary school teachers, and
some pupils will be sampled for this research.
1.8 DELIMITATION OF THE STUDY
Finance
for the general research work was a challenge during the course of
study. Respondents were not also willing to complete or submit the
questionnaires given to them.
However, these constraints were worked
on by making the best use of the available materials and spending more
than the necessary time in the research work. Therefore, it is strongly
believed that despite these constraint, its effect on this research
report was be minimal, thus, making the objective and significance of
the study achievable.
1.9 DEFINITION OF TERMS
School Feeding
Program: has been defined by World Bank as a targeted social safety nets
that provides both educational and health benefits to the most
vulnerable children, thereby increasing enrollment rates, reducing
truancy, improving food security at the household level. Beyond
