    • This study was carried out to examine the impact of school inspection on the academic performance of students in secondary schools in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers state.

      The study was carried out to ascertain whether regular school supervision have an impact on student’s academic performance in secondary school, determine the extent school inspection is implemented in secondary schools in Nigeria, find out whether school inspection helps to ensure that quality education is achieved in secondary schools in Nigeria, ascertain the extent checking of teacher’s classroom activities by school inspectors influence academic performance of students in senior secondary schools in Nigeria, and determine the extent inspection of instructional facilities influence academic performance of students in senior secondary schools in Nigeria.The survey design was adopted and the simple random sampling techniques were employed in this study. 

      The population size comprise of academic and non-academic staff of some selected secondary schools in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers state.In determining the sample size, the researcher conveniently selected 114 respondents and 100 were validated. Self-constructed and validated questionnaire was used for data collection. The collected and validated questionnaires were analyzed using frequency tables. While the hypotheses were tested using Chi-square statistical tool.The result of the findings reveals that the extent the checking of teacher’s classroom activities by school inspectors influences academic performance of students in senior secondary schools in Nigeria is high.

      The study also revealed that the extent the inspection of instructional facilities influences academic performance of students in senior secondary schools in Nigeria is high.Therefore, it is recommended that the classroom activities of teachers should be scrutinized under inspection to give proper reports on teaching and learning activities in public senior secondary schools.
