Question 4: Do students in secondary schools actually employ the social networking sites to gather academic-related information, social-related information or information that injures their mind and divert their attention from studies?
Table 4 shows that a lot of students engage in social media for academic purposes, analysis of the teachers’ and school administrators’ responses on their performances in class and during external examinations do not justify this position. The students performed woefully at the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results obtained by researcher from 2010 and 2015. In fact, the next table shows that only few of them download academic-related materials via the social media. Many of them chat, watch videos and listen to music via social media platforms.
