    • -    Improve working condition and welfare services for teachers such as opportunities for car and housing loans so as to discourage transfer of service and leaving for other jobs by professional teachers.
      -    Seminars, conferences and in-house workshops should be organized often to educate teachers on how to improve on their teaching, newly recruited teachers or subject teachers, teaching subjects that is not relevant to their discipline at the tertiary level can also as be trained by those teachers who actually studies the subject so as to improve teachers. Also in-service training for English and Mathematics teachers should be organized frequently especially for those teachers who did not have their degree in mathematics and English education is considered paramount.
      -    Prompt payment of teachers’ salaries and allowances could influence the level of teachers’ competency. Psychological needs needed for survival was classified in Maslow’s model they are nevertheless primary and   important as levers for the attainment of higher order motives. Teachers teaching core subjects like English and Mathematics should be given prompt promotion to encourage them so that they will not relent in their effort in teaching the students and giving all their best at all times.
      -    On the other hand, teachers that have stayed long on the job should always work hand in hand with the school management and government on the way forward, on how students’ academic performance rather than showing non-challant attitude to the development of the students’ academic performance.
      5.4    Suggestion for further studies
          This study is limited to Kogi state metropolis and only 10 secondary schools were selected from the Ijumu Local Government Areas. It is therefore suggestion that similar studies be carried out in other state in Nigeria.
          This studies identified four factors influence Teachers’ professional development in schools, it is therefore, suggested that studies can be carried out on other factors influence Teachers’ Professional in Nigeria senior secondary schools.
