      RESEARCHMETHOD
          This chapter deals with the methodology used in carrying out the study. It describes the design used in carrying out the study, area of the study, the population of the study, sample and sampling techniques, the instrument used in data collection, validation and reliability of the instrument and method of data collection and data analysis.
      Research Design
          This study is a descriptive survey design aimed at identifying the innovative strategies for student academic performance in public examinations in Ilorin West LGA of Kwara State. Ali (2006) stated that a survey is a descriptive study which seeks or uses the sample data of an investigation to document, describe, and explain what is existent or non- existent, on the present status of a phenomenon being investigated. Ali went further to say that in surveys, views, facts etc are collected, analysed and used for answering research question.
      Population, Sample and Sampling Technique
          The target population of this study will be all students in senior secondary schools in Ilorin West local government area of Kwara state.
      Stratified random sampling technique will be used to select ten (10) senior secondary schools in Ilorin West local government area of Kwara state. Also stratified random sampling technique would be used to select twenty (20) students from each of the ten (10) senior secondary schools in all, a total of two hundred (200) students would made up the sample subject of the study.  
      Instrumentation
          The researcher made use of a well structured questionnaire to elicit relevant information from the sample respondents. The instrument is tagged “Examination Malpractices Strategies and Students Academic Performance Questionnaire (EMSSAPQ).
          The questionnaire consists of two sections (A and B). section ‘A’ seek for personal information of respondents such as Sex, Age, Class, and background status e.t.c while section ‘B’ would contain 20-items statement on examination malpractices strategies and students academic performance in senior secondary schools.
          The items on the questionnaire would be arranged using licker scale type.
      Where; SA= Strongly Agreed
      A= Agreed
      D= Disagreed
      SD= Strongly Disagreed
      Respondents would be expected to tick from the alternatives the option that best represent their opinions.
          To ensure the validity of the instrument for this study draft of the questionnaire will be evaluated using assessment (research instrument) developed and deployed by the researcher and to be given to researchers’ supervisor and other experts in the department and a test construction experts for their comments, amendments and suggestions. Their opinions amendments and suggestions would be in-corporated into the final draft of the instrument, which will ensure both face and content validity of the instrument.
          To determine the reliability of the instruments, the questionnaire will be subjected to test-retest method. The instrument would be administered on ten (10) students who will not be among the samples selected for this study. The instrument will be re-administered on the same subject after two weeks interval and the two score will be subjected to statistical analysis using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient.
      Procedure for Data Collection
          The instrument for the study will be administered personally by the researcher on the respondents in the selected senior secondary schools in Ilorin West LGA, Kwara state. The researcher will seek for permission from the appropriate authorities within the sample schools before the administration.
          All completed questionnaire will be collected and collated for data analysis.
      Method of Data Analysis
      Descriptive statistic of frequencies and simple percentage will be used to analyze the demographic data. All hypotheses will be tested using t-test statistical tool at 0.05 level of significance.
