Research Instrument(S)
The basic instruments used to collect data in this study were questionnaires. The questionnaires were in two folds; (1) the students’ perceptive on the Parents Teachers Association and Secondary School Administration in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State and (2) the teachers’ perceptive on the Parents Teachers Association and Secondary School Administration in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Validity and Reliability of the Instrument(S)
Validity of the instrument of this study was the extent to which it measures what it purport to measure, the suitability of a text items depends mainly on the judgment of experts, the researcher sought the help of the supervisor to assist in vetting the items.
Reliability refers to the consistence of research instrument (Amin 2005). The reliability of this research instrument was ascertained using test-retest reliability method. According to Amin (2015), Test –retest provides evidence that scores obtained on a test at one time are the same or close to the same when the test is re-administered some other time.
The researcher used a test- retest method, where respondents inside the selected schools were given questionnaire to complete, the same respondents were given the questionnaire again to complete after two weeks and their responses were correlated using Pearson product moment correlation statistics at 0.5 level of significance.
Procedure of Data Collection
The researcher personally visited all the 10 selected Public Secondary Schools in Oyun Local Government Area, Kwara State to administer the questionnaire and the checklist. She waited to collect the questionnaire from the respondents on the same day so as to ensure 100% retrieval of the instrument and to avoid contradiction in the responses.
Method of Data Analysis
The statistical techniques adopted for data analysis in this study was the simple percentage. The number of Yes and No responses were converted to percentage response for those that agreed and disagreed were used for the analysis. All the scores for each question were sum-up and listed in determining the acceptance or rejection of the questions for the study. This technique was chosen because it is easily used and understood by any reader.
