PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS OF DATA AND DISCUSSION
This chapter presents the analysis of the data collected and the discussion of the results obtained. One main and three operational hypotheses were discussed as follows in this chapter. T-test statistics was used to test all the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance as a standard region of decision of the hypotheses.
Hypothesis Testing
There are one main and three operational hypotheses set to guide the study. T-test statistics was use to test all the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance.
Ho: There is no significant difference between personnel management practices in public and private secondary schools in Akinyele Local Government Area secondary schools, Oyo State.
Table 1 shows a calculated t-value of 8.14 is greater than the critical t-value of 1.74 at 0.05 level of significance for 118 degrees of freedom. Therefore, the hypothesis which states that there is no significance difference between personnel management practices in public and private secondary schools in Akinyele Local Government Area secondary schools, Oyo State is rejected, which means that a significant difference exist between personnel management practices in public and private secondary schools in Akinyele Local Government Area secondary schools, Oyo State. This study is similar to that of Cole (2002) who observed that students’ personnel management refers to the planning, organizing, directing, supervising, co-ordinating and controlling of those activities and welfare of the entire students population. Acquaah (2004) on the other hand conceptualized personnel management as comprising those administrative and supervising functions and services other than classroom instruction. Aray (2008) outlined planning, organising, directing and controlling as the administrative task areas of the personnel management which under this circumstance should be applied in school administration. Gary (2008) has the following as the functions of the personnel officer (Principal) planning, organising, staffing, directing, controlling, innovation and representation.
