      DATA ANALYSIS AND RESULTS
This chapter presents the analysis of the data collected and the interpretation of result on socio-economic status of parents and students' academic performance in Lagelu Local Government Area, Oyo State.  For the personal data, frequency counts and percentages were employed while Pearson product moment correlation statistics was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance.
      Hypothesis Testing
Three research hypotheses were formulated and tested for this study. The hypotheses were tested using Pearson product moment correlation statistical method at 0.05 level of significance.
      Main Hypothesis
HO: There is no significant relationship between socio-economic status of parents and students' academic performance in Lagelu Local Government Area, Oyo state.

Table 1 shows that the calculated r-value of .418 is greater than the critical r- value of .195 at .05 level of significance for 198 degrees of freedom. Thus, the null hypothesis which states that there is no significant relationship between socio-economic status of parents and students’ academic performance was rejected. Thus, there is significant relationship between socio-economic status of parents and students’ academic performance. This assertion is in line with that of Odoemena and Opara (2010) who stated that, socio-economic status is an economic and sociological combined total measure of a person’s work experience and individual’s or  family’s economic and social position in relation to income, education and occupation.
