    • CHAPTER THREE
      RESEARCH METHODOLOGY.
This chapter described the methods as well as procedures adopted in carrying out this study. The two variables in this study are computer education and administrative performance. In view of this, the chapter was divided into the following sub-headings:
      1.    Research Design
      2.    Population, Sample and Sampling Technique
      3.    Instrumentation
      4.    Procedure for Data Collection
      5.    Data Analysis Technique
      Research Design
A cross-sectional descriptive survey research design was used in this study. The study sought to establish cause-effect relationship but research has no control over other the variables of interest and therefore, cannot manipulate them. Indeed descriptive survey research design was chosen because it aims at collecting data on, and describing in a systematic manner, the features characteristics as well as facts about an area or sample of study.
      Population, Sample and Sampling Technique.
Sampling is a procedure that can be used to select a part of the population on which study can be generalized to the entire population. The principals and teachers of public secondary schools in Oorelope local government area, Oyo state. Stratified random sampling technique was used to select 217 (43%) participants out of a population of 506 principals and teaching staff from 7 secondary schools in Oorelope Local Government area, Oyo state.
      Instrumentation
Two major researcher-designed instruments titled "Computer Education Questionnaire (CEQ) and Administrative Performance Questionnaire (APQ)" were used for gathering data in this study. The instruments were divided into sections A and B. Section A consisted of information about computer education while Section B consisted information about Administrative Performance.
The Computer Education Questionnaire (CEQ) was designed to elicit information on level of computer education of school administrators and level of the use of computer to ensure administrative of performance in Public Secondary Schools while Section B Administrative Performance Questionnaire (APQ) was also designed to elicit information on the level of the use of date base in computer, spread sheets and MS Word in computer operation.
Questionnaire with structured questions enhances data analysis as well as the estimations of validity and reliability indices for the instrument. Likert 4 point for rating scale was employed. Subjects were asked to indicate by ticking (V) to what extent they disagree or agree with content items in some parts of the questionnaire.
The instrument was administered at the public secondary schools of Oorelope local government area, Oyo state which is one of the secondary schools under study which was excluded from the factional study. The instrument was subjected to a reliability test using test and retest method in order to determine the degree of reliability. The reliability of the questionnaire was expressed as a correlation coefficient. The coefficient was obtained by correlating two sets of sores to determine the relationship between them.
      Procedure for Data Collection.
The services of 6 research assistants were involved for the administration of research instruments. The research assistants were trained and guided by the researcher on how to gather data by using the instruments. The research instrument was personally by the researcher. The respondents for the study were the principals and teaching staff of public secondary schools in Orelope local government area, Oyo state selection for the study. The instrument was administered to the chosen sample face-to-face, the face-to-face instrument administration ensures that the actual individual for whom the questionnaire was meant was indeed the one who completed it.
      Data Analysis
The following statistical tools were used in the study:
      1.    Simple descriptive statistics, that is, frequencies and percentages were used to analyse data to answer the research questions raised;
      2.    Multiple Regression Analysis was used to test the main hypothesis,
      3.    Pearson's product-moment correlation coefficient statistics was used to test the operational hypothesis. The hypotheses were tested at 0.05 significance level.
