CHAPTER THREE RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This chapter discusses the methodology used in the collection and analysis of data. The chapter focuses on: (1) Research Design
(2) Population, Sample and Sampling Techniques (3) Instrumentation (4) Procedure for Data Collection and (5) Data Analysis Technique
Research Design
This research is a descriptive survey research. According to Daramola (2011), descriptive survey reports happenings and events the way they are. It also ensures the determination of opinions. It looks carefully at a phenomenon and describes exactly what it is. Thus, a descriptive survey research would be chosen to enable the researcher to make useful deduction and judgment at the end of the research with the aid of the questionnaire. This research made use of questionnaires to elicit information from respondent because most people are familiar to it and it reduces bias. Likewise the researcher's own opinions will not influence the respondent to answer questions in a certain manner and there are no verbal or visual clues to influence the respondent.
Population, Sample and Sampling Techniques
The population for this study are the pre service teachers from university of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria. The target population are the pre service Economics teachers’ of the institute of Education of the University. Contact II – V students are purposively selected for the study. Random sampling technique was used to select one hundred and ten (110) students across contact II-V. For contact II- 22, contact III-30, contact IV-30, and contact V-28 are selected for the Stratified sampling techniques are used to select both male and female students across the contact.
Instrumentation A researcher designed questionnaire was used for this study. The instrument contained three sections: Section ‘A’ has the background information such as the respondent’s gender, and academic level; Section B has items that sought for information onpre-service teachers’ perceptions of the use of CBT and Section C will contain items on thepre-service teachers’ attitude towards the use of CBT.The response to the questionnaire items was drawn on response mode categorized as:Strongly Agree - 4 points, Agree-3points, Disagree -2 points and Strongly Disagree-1 point.
