By scope, I mean reach of the values deemed national it is unavoidably tautological to suggest that national values must be national in scope. National value cannot be ethnic or sectarian group of course; this does not suggest that a value that is acceptable to one ethnic of sectarian group cannot be acceptable to some other group.
Secondly, one factor that determines the national scope of a value is the source of the value. National values cannot originate from diverse source, fortunately, despite the division of tribe and tongues in their country; we have one non-divisive source of our values. It is the constitution which provides a copious account of the fundamental objective and directive principle of state policy. These for all intents and purposes are declaration of our national value.

Appraisal of Literature Review
The reviewed studies on introduction of Religion and National Value in the Upper Basic Schools Social Curriculum shows that a lot of work have been done in the area of assessment of other social sciences subject component in social studies. For instance Busari (1992) studies the relationship between student’s performances in Social Studies at junior Secondary School and achievement in Geography at Senior Secondary, Adewole (1997) researched an appropriateness of government concepts of the Social Studies curriculum as prerequisite for offering Government in SSS, Olukotun (2002) examined “Teacher evaluation of the Geography components of the Junior Secondary School. Social Studies curriculum and Adegboye (2009), looked at Introduction of Religion and National value into Junior Secondary School Social Studies, curriculum.
A lot have been done in the area of looking at interrelationships, between the JSS Social Studies and its component subject like Geography, Government, History, Economics, among others. However there is need to also look at the component of these social subjects (Economics, Geography, History, and so on) in the Upper Basic School subject (enough of one way traffic) there is need also to look at another area like others Social Science subject
The basis of this present study, therefore, is to examine whether the Introduction of Religion and National value at Upper Basic Social Studies curriculum adequately represents the nature of Economics as a subject at the Senior Secondary School level.
