CHAPTER THREE
METHODOLOGY
This chapter deals with method and procedure for data collection and caring out the research on the principal decision making strategies and teacher’s effectiveness in Ijumu Kogi State. It for uses on research design population sample and sampling techniques, research instrument, validity and reliability of the instrument, procedure for data collection and procedure for data analysis.
RESEARCH DESIGN
Descriptive survey will be adopted for the study involve in the study it is a type of research approach that enable information to be collected from various sources and the design will also be adopted because it describe the effectiveness and influence of decision making strategies of the school principal on the teacher in Ijumu Kogi State.
POPULATION
Principal and teachers of secondary school will constitution the population for the study however; it is only those school in Ijumu that has been in existence for more than 30years together with their principal and teachers that will from the target population.
Daramola (2005) defines population as a yardstick that determines the categories of people to be involve.
SAMPLE AND SAMPLING PROCEDURE
The population for this study consists of all principals and teachers in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Therefore, 10 teacher’s will be randomly selected in 10 schools, all 10 principals in the sampled school will be selected making a total number of 110 respondents
INSTRUMENTATION
The main instrument used in the research is structured questionnaire which is designed by the research after extensive literature review.
The copies of the questionnaire will be served on the teacher of the selection secondary school used for this study the respondents are required to tick the appropriate column as relevant to their principal strategies of decision making these are section i and ii section i seeks for personal information of the respondents while section ii contain twenty two (22) questions on leadership strategies and decision making ventures of the principal and decision making problems.
Its is based on four point scale i.e strongly agree, strongly disagree and disagree response on strategies of decision making of principal in secondary schools in Kogi State.
VALIDITY OF THE INSTRUMENT
The face validity of the instrument would be determined by the project supervisor and 5 lecturers in the department of educational management therefore the questionnaire would be given to these people for their comments and observation the major correction will be done before the questionnaire will be finally administered.
