Fig 3.1 shows the assembling diagram of a welding machine and its associated components. This machine is designed to operate on 240v – 50Hz supply and since it is designed for industrial purpose, it is made to be at no load rating power of 8kvA with current between 45A to 180A.
Discharge is formed when an electric current passes between two electrodes separated by a short distance from each other by bringing the metals to be welded and the electrode together, excitation energy is established. This result in a continuous flow of molecular structure of the metals due to disintegration of the existing bond. This result in molten metal which allowed to cool, coalesced together and produce a joint of weld.
