Hypothesis Testing
HO1: There is no significant relationship between school factors and students’ academic performance in English language
Table 3: Relationship between School Factors and Students Academic Performance
Table 3 shows the correlation between the school factors and students academic performance. The data revealed a calculated r-value of 0.89 and a sig value of 0.77 at 0.05 level of significance. Since the calculated sig value (0.77) is greater than 0.05, hypothesis 1 is therefore rejected. This implies that there was a significant relationship between school factors and students’ academic performance in English language.
HO2: There is no significant relationship between school factors and academic performance of male students.
Table 4: School Factors and Academic Performance of Male Students
Table 4 shows the correlation between the school factors and male students academic performance. The data revealed a calculated r-value of 0.12 and a sig value of 0.178 at 0.05 level of significance. Since the calculated sig value (0.178) is greater than 0.05, hypothesis 2 is therefore rejected. This implies that there was a significant relationship between school factors and male students’ academic performance in English language.
