From the data presented above, it is obvious that:
(a) Suffixes could be added to noun for the formation of verbs.
(b) Prefixes like (-en) could be added to adjectives to form verbs.
(c) Prefixes like (re-) could be added to adjective to form verbs.
(d) Prefixes such as (en-) can change a noun to verb forms.
(e) Derivatives could be possible when there is an internal change of consonants sounds in the noun base, to form a verb form.
(f) Derivative could be possible through accentual and vocalic change in nouns to form new word-class of verb.
(g) Derivatives could be possible through stress shift in syllables to change the word-class from noun to verb.
(h) Conjugation of verbs as determined by take a paradigm reflecting “-ed, -en, -ing –sâ€.
Research question two
Like other languages of the world, Igbo verbs are formed systematically based on certain rules that govern the language. These rules such as affixes, Igbo verbal extensions, conjugation of verbs, tonal patterns etc are all methods of formations of Igbo verbs.
Take for instance, Igbo forms its past tense form of verb by adding morphemes to the verbroot (prefixing or suffixing), as in the examples below.
