5.2 Conclusions
1. Urinary tract infection (UTI) is caused by several factors such as micro-organism, frequent sexual activities, sex after long time abstinence and poor personal hygiene.
2. Urinary tract infections (UTI) among people of 15years could lead to urine retention, premature delivery by pregnant women painful burning sensation during urination and urge to urinate frequently.
3. Urinary tract infection could be prevented through persona cleanliness, drinking of plenty of water, washing of genital area before and after intercourse.
4. Health workers had good knowledge of UTI
5.3 Recommendations
1. Sexuality education should be included in secondary school curriculum so that teenage girls could be exposed to causes, effects and prevention of UTI.
2. Mothers should be specially educated on the nature and prevention of UTI.
3. Advocacies, campaigns and other orientation programmes should be carried out by relevant government and non-government agencies on UTI.
4. Discussions on urinary tract infections should be included during antenatal clinics
5. Women should endeavor to consult medical personnel once any signs of UTI are noticed or observed
6. Personal cleanliness should be the cornerstone of women’s lifestyles in order to minimize the incidence of urinary tract infections.
7. People should endeavor to drink plenty of water in order to flush bacteria and micro-organisms
8. Health workers should attend seminar on UTI periodically.
5.4 Implications of Suggestion
The health workers knowledge of urinary tract infection and its causes are positive indication that the menace of UTI among people of 15 years would soon be a thing of the past.
