    • 1.0              SUMMARY OF FINDINGS, RECOMMENDATIONS AND CONCLUSIONS

In this chapter, the summary of the findings of this research study is discussed. Based on the findings, recommendations were made.

      1.1               SUMMARY OF FINDINGS

      1. The research study has been able to reveal that there is a relationship between awareness and perception of Estate Management and the profession in Anambra State.
      2. It was as well discovered that citizens of Anambra state prefer the services of a lawyer as opposed to an Estate Surveyor and Valuer, with a majority of them citing legal reasons as what prompted their choice.
      3. Our method of practice has reduced the level of confidence in our profession.  Many imposters have usurped even our special preserve-Valuation. Banks now use their Business Degree graduates, to analyse and value income producing properties. Many mortgage valuations have failed to stand the test of time.  The greatest challenge the practice faces, is how to adopt our valuation methods to changing economic situations, to remain relevant.
      4. The incursion of all manner of persons into the Agency and Management aspect of the profession has beclouded the society's perception of the true professional. A major challenge will be how to extricate the Estate Surveyor and Valuer from the maze of practitioners in the field.
      5. Professional orientation of citizens of Anambra state towards estate management is admirable.
      6. Citizens of Anambra state are satisfied with the services rendered by Estate Surveyors and Valuers.
      7. Quacks and local agents are often misconstrued as Estate Surveyor and Valuers by some of the less informed citizens. And when these individuals get something wrong in the course of rendering services, the blame is shouldered on Estate Surveyors and Valuers generally.
      8. Finally the test of hypothesis attested to the fact that there is significant relationship between awareness of citizens and estate management profession and also that Anambra State citizens are aware of the term Estate Management as a profession but are limited in their knowledge of it as they lack proper and adequate understanding of what the profession entails and the services alike.
      9. Also the test of hypothesis attested to the fact that Anambra citizens do not prefer the services of Estate Surveyor and Valuers.
