H04: There is no significant relationship between class size and students score in academic performance of geography.
Rejecting H0, implies that our test is significant and there is a relationship between academic performance and students score because the significant level of 0.05 is less than the P-value of 0.411.
Hence, because the correlation result is a lower negative value. This indicates that the students score with respect to large class size, the lower their academic performance.
Summary of the Findings
The results are presented according to how questions are raised. As regards the question of whether these will be differences in the performance of students taught by teachers having large classes, results should that students performance in the geography class was very low.
Apart from this, the number of period geography teachers have to teach geography in a week was optimal. Other activities performed by the geography teacher which take most of their time include student supervision, student counselling and other administrative duties.
This results are in agreement with the findings that the relationship between low class size and students achievement was negative, such that the larger the class, the lower the student achievement will be. And that large class size is not conductive for serious academic work.
Also this research proves that in large class sizes and excessive responsibilities contribute to high stress levels of job dissatisfaction among teachers. Results also showed that the performance of students taught by teachers in smaller classes was good because the performance of students in large geography class is negative. An indication that in a reduced class size, student received more individual attention and more immediate feedback that below average and above average students achieved more that a greater variety of instructional materials were used, that the instructional atmosphere were less hectic, that teachers assigned more homework and that teachers were happier and more enthusiastic about their teaching.
The smaller classes result in increased student teacher contact greater achievement gains for student with lower academic ability and for those who are economically or socially disadvantaged improvement in classroom management, higher teacher moral and reduces stress, produce considerable higher achievement.
