    • The following essential elements must be included in course planning if successful reaching and learning for pupils are to occur.
      a.    Clear learning objectives and learning outcomes in terms of the pupils knowledge, understanding and skills;
      b.    A variety of teaching and learning strategies to differentiate the learning experiences of pupils
      c.    A variety of resources available to support pupils learning
      d.    A variety of tasks and activities which provide different opportunities for pupil learning and for different outcomes such as:
      i.    Opportunities to vary in the pace and depth of learning
      ii.    Different strategies for assessment of pupil learning
      iii.    Effective feedback on the pupils’ learning outcomes and target
      setting for their future learning.
      Furthermore, teachers need to consider the quality of the pupils learning environment and to promote one which encourages and enables effective learning to take place, the curriculum needs to challenge the pupils, to have high expectations of involvement and attainment, to enable and encourage positive achievement as a realistic goal and engage pupils in active and enjoyable learning classrooms need to reflect this philosophy.
      There are still important questions to address concerning how judgments  are made about the appropriate teaching and learning environments for individual pupils and the expectations of an individual pupil’s capabilities. The focus is now centered on differentiation in teaching and learning and how best this might be accomplished. Differentiation in learning can be achieved when pupils are presented with learning opportunities which enable them to learn effectively and to demonstrate what they know, understand and can do. In most learning situations the role of the teacher is as a facilitator of learning, providing structured situations which encourage investigation and enquiry using a variety of resources.

      Appraisal of Literature Review
          Generally speaking the level of educational attainment of a teacher will determine the level of his/her knowledge dissemination, most geography teacher have a general knowledge of the subjects but with the expansion of the curriculum through several researches and technological development geography had been enlarges to encompass severaltopics, which calls for teacher to upgrade their knowledge.
      For example:Bajan (2010) in Akintade (2011) said it is an education treason that a teacher graduate or non-graduate can only teach what he or she knows therefore it is very important that a secondary school teacher should be academically articulate in his area of specialization. The way he /she relates to the students and passes across his instructions goes a long way to affect the students response and attitude towards the subject.
          The main focus of most learner is to grap the content matter of the subject been taught. For instances Adediwura and Tayo, 2007, Adu and Olatundun, 2007 SchacterThum, 2004, Starr 2002 in their views stated that the influence of teachers teaching effectiveness on the learning outcome of students as measured by students academic performance has been the subject of several studies, the above studies suggest that effective teaching is a significance predictor of students academic achievement. Therefore more seminars, conferences and in-service training should be given to our teachers in order to be able to ascertain proper teaching and learning of the subject matter.
          Finally, students should also be guided right so as to be able to assimilate their learning capacities and perform excellently in external examinations.
