Table 1 revealed that 48% (48) male respondents were used for the study while only 52% (52) respondents were female used for the study. On the age of the respondents used for used for the study. On the age of the respondents used for the study 23% (23) of the respondents were between age 15-18 years, only 30% (30) of respondents were also between age 19-22 years. The respondents that fall between age 23years and above are 47% (47) were used to determine the effect of teachers qualification on the secondary school students performance in Geography in external examination.
Section B
Section B presents the result on the opinion of the respondents used for the stud on the five variables used for the study on the effect of teachers qualification on the secondary school students performance in Geography in external Examination.
Research Hypothesis One
There is no significant differences in students academic performances in schools with qualified Geography teachers and schools without qualified geography teachers.
Table 2 shows the calculated X2analysis of respondents responses on the differences between students’ academic performances in schools with qualified geography teachers and schools without qualified geography teachers. The table indicated the calculated X2 value of 92.87 which is greater than table value of 21.026 at a degree of freedom of 12 at 0.05 alpha level of significance. Therefore, significance difference exists in the respondents’ responses. Consequently, the null hypothesis is rejected. This means that schools with qualified geography teachers are likely to record better students’ academic performance in geography in external examination than school without qualified geography teachers.
