    • Hajia Titi Atiku Abubakar (2001) said, “Nigerian girls sent to Europe to traffickers are sometimes forced by their agents to sleep with dogs”. This really then humanizing and must be completely put under check.
Africa is home to many abuses of children. The Ant-slavery Reporter of September 1997 says the new trafficking routes are opening up from the Horn of Africa. In the absence of protective gear (masks, gloves etc.) children working on the tea and coffee plantation he some districts of Kenya fall ill regularly (Sunday Nation, 5th January, 1997).
      Theory of Child Trafficking
      Humanistic View
Rogers (1957), propounded person – control theory, which build upon some assumptions based on his belief about the nature of man, he holds a very optimistic view of man emphasizing his virtues rather than vices. He upholds the dignity and worth of man pointing for self-enhancement. To him, human beings are not just mere objects but organisms processing some kind of natural force compelling their towards self actualization. Man according to him, has a natural motivation to interact with his environment in ways that would facilitate the achievement of his goals. That by virtue of the nature of man he is entitled of his opinion and beliefs and is capable of initiating self-directed behaviours that would result in the satisfaction of his need and the achievement of his goals.
In otherwise, the above theory sees man as dynamic. As such, those children who engaged in child trafficking do so as to self-enhance and self actualize themselves. These children only see what they are doing (child trafficking) as a normal way human being suppose to interact with his environment as they facilitate the achievements of their goals which is to line independently. These children according to this theory may see the society as trying to truncate the parts of their self motivation and self-directed efforts or behaviours that could result in the satisfaction of theirs needs.
To support the above, Maslow 1954 in (Uba 1989) came out with a theory based on the hierarchy of human needs. He said, “Self-actualization tendency in children motivate them to go into child trafficking as to satisfy their needs progressively. Agreeing with this tendency in them Anguya (1941) sees it as the motive behind behaviours that geared towards the achievement of their goals and the maintenance of autonomy. Rogers strongly argued that these children must be understood particularly because they are not passive objects, but atime organisms.
May (1961) said, that “man cannot be reduced to drives since the more you formulate the forces or drives, the more you are talking about abstractions and not the existing living human being”. To him, these children that are into child trafficking are reliable and trustworthy and that they have being viewed by the society as otherwise in the process of their effort to defend themselves. Her postulated that the wisdom of these children cannot be possibly measured on the basis of their awareness at a point in time, but as they are been confronted with problems, their awareness become sharpened and headed towards child trafficking.
The humanistic in relation to existence see these children who engage in child trafficking as becoming, having choices and wills and, therefore are exercising freedom (Shertzer & Stone, 1974). They believed that man is free in a free world. Writing a man’s in alienable right to freedom of choice. Abuckle (1965) opines “although determinism may be part of the world, it does not apply to man. The free man lines relatively free culture, but he is not bound by them. They do not control him, but rather, his self transcends them”. Thus in essence these who engage in child trafficking business are free to decide what they want their own existence to be. They are free to get upon their environment and take a stand towards living.
      Psychoanalytic View
Sexual life does not begin at puberty, but starts with plan manifestations soon after birth (Freud, 1940). Indeed Freud described the infants to be outrage of his contemporaries, as a “sexual life includes the functions of obtaining pleasure from zones of the body – a functions which is subsequently brought into the service of production”. The infant drives pleasure initially from the stimulation of any part of the body, and this pleasure is sexual, hence the term “polymorphous pervert” freud defined any sexual activity which does not have reproduction as its aim as a perverts. As such, those children who engage include trafficking for prostitution and other forms of sexual exploitation are sexually perverted. This is because those who engage in doing so for reasons far away from reproduction sake (Ogunlade & Olasehinde, 1995).
