      RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
      Introduction
          The aim of this research work is to find out the need for guidance and counselling services in primary school, as perceived by primary school teacher in Ilorin Metropolis, Kwara State. This chapter described the procedures of the conduct of the study which include the design of the study, sample and sampling procedure, instrumentation with it validity reliability, the administration and scoring of the instrument as well as the method of analysis.
      Research Design
          The research design that will be adopted for this study is the survey method. This method which, according to Ndu (1990), reports things as they are without imposing control over the situation is considered appropriate for this study. The method can be used to asses attitudes, opinions, procedure, and demographic information and the denature collected through direct observation of real simulated phenomena (Daramola 1991). It is clear that descriptive survey method suitable for this study since it is an evaluative study of the need for guidance and counselling service in Primary School in Ilorin Metropolis, Kwara State.
      Sample and Sampling Procedure
          The target population for this study consisted of all teacher in primary schools in Ilorin Metropolis, Kwara State. Twenty teachers (respondents) were selected from ten schools. The sample were selected from the following schools:
      -    Ansarul-li-Islam Primary School, Okekere.
      -    Adeta Primary School, Adeta
      -    Ansaru-deen Primary School, Kuntu
      -    Pakata Primary School, Pakata
      -    Ald-Yarudeen Primary School, Isale Balode
      -    Hiwanudeen Primary School, Oju-odo, Kuntu
      -    Alore Primary School, Oke-Apomu
      -    Oke-Ebo Primary School, Oke-Ebo
      -    Barakat Community Primary School, Itamoh
      -    Al-Adabiyah Primary School, Alore
      A total of two hundred (200) teachers in the above school primary schools were used. Thus, the researcher employed purposive random sampling technique.
      According to Adewumi (1988), purposive random sampling technique is a sampling procedure whereby samples are selected arbitrarily because there is a good evidence that it is a good representative of the problem.
      Instrumentation
          The instrument that was used in collecting the data for this study is questionnaire. The questionnaire that was used for this study is titled “Need for guidance and counselling service questionnaire (NGCSQ). It is made up of twenty items, psychological and vocational needs.
          It was development by researcher, based on his wealth of experience in the primary school system. Relevant literature was also reviewed to obtain useful information. This questionnaire is designed in such a way that respondents are only regarding to read giving statements and respond to them freely by ticking the appropriate columns using the following four. Likert type scale:
      SA    =    Strongly Agree
      A    =    Agree
      D    =    Disagree
      SD    =    Strongly Disagree
