Hypotheses Testing
Four null hypotheses were formulated for this study. The hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance, using t-test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) statistics. This section thus presented the results of the hypotheses tested.
Hypothesis One:
There is no significant age difference in the marital expectations of young females in Oke-Ero LGA.
Table 3 shows that, under 2 and 416 degrees of freedom (df), the calculated F-value of 0.26 is less than the critical F-value of 3.00. Similarly, the corresponding p-value of 0.76 is greater than the significant p-value of 0.05. This indicates that there was no significant age difference in respondents’ marital expectations; hence, the hypothesis was accepted. This implies age has no significant influence on marital expectations of young females in Oke-Ero Local Government Area.
Hypothesis Two:
There is no significant difference in the marital expectations of young females in Oke-Ero LGA based on religion.
Table 4 shows that, under 3 and 416 degrees of freedom (df), the calculated F-value of 0.15 is less than the critical F-value of 2.60. Similarly, the corresponding p-value of 0.92 is greater than the significant p-value of 0.05. This indicates that there was no significant religious difference in respondents’ marital expectations; hence, the hypothesis was accepted. This implies religion has no significant influence on marital expectations of young females in Oke-Ero Local Government Area.
