A recent study by Gordon Smith and his Colleagues (2000), found that alcohol is an important factor in many fatal non-traffic injuries and that its importance varies by cause of injury. Alcohol was a major contributing factor in: -
- 32% of all homicide cases
- 31% of unintentional injury deaths and
- 23% for suicide cases.
The table above emphasized the strong relationship between the use marijuana and other health risk behaviours. Marijuana users are also likely to use alcohol and cigarettes and spend a great deal of time with other adolescents who engage in the same behaviours. They are more likely to feel pressured at school and home, to skip classes and to bull others. Marijuana use among odour adolescents use is clearly part of a high health – risk life style.
