    • Table 5 indicates various perceptions of undergraduates of University of Ilorin on the factors responsible for females’ involvement in drug use. This shows the means scores of the various items and ranking of the item. From the table item 11 was ranked 1st with mean of 3.055 and it stated that they use it to overcome guilt, shame or frustration”. Item 1 was ranked 2nd with mean of 3.040 and it stated that “they see it as pleasure”. Item 14 with the mean of 2.910 was ranked 3rd and it stated that, “10 over come their inferiority completed item 2 with the mean of 2.895 was ranked 4th and it stated that “of the attempt to gain strong self esteem among peers”. Item 18 with the mean of 2.75 was ranked 5th and it stated that, “of parent non-challant attitude toward their growing adolescent girls” item 12 with the mean of 2.850 was ranked 6th, which stated that, “they want to be sexually active”. Item 3 with the mean of 2.79was ranked 7th and it stated that, “they are ignorant of its side effect”. Item 15 with the mean of 2.785 was ranked 8th and it states that, “to boost of their ego”.
          Item 6 and 13 are having the same mean of 2.775 were ranked 9th and it stated that, “they want to imitate significant persons in their environment and the regard drugs as a coping mechanism to handle crisis situations”. Item 19 with the mean of 2.755 was ranked 11th and it stated that, “of negative relationship between parents and daughters”. Item 9 with the mean of 2.700 was ranked 12th and it stated that “they want to prevent or abort pregnancy”. Item 8 with the mean of 2.695 was ranked 18th and it stated that, “of the exposure through advertisement such as on television, newspaper, radio, billboard etc.” item 7 with the mean of 2.635 was ranked 14th and which stated that they see it as attaining a social status.
          Item 16 with the mean 2.615 was ranked 15th and it stated that, “they want to get over family problems. Item 10 with the mean 2.590 was ranked 16th and it stated that, “they want to experiment like boys”. Item 17 with the mean 2.480 was ranked 17th which stated that parent addiction to drugs”. Item 20 with the mean 2.290 was ranked 18th and it states that, they are from rich background”. Item 4 and 5 were having the same mean of 2.285 were ranked 19th which stated that, “they want to loss or gain weight and they want to keep awake for long while reading.   

      Table 6 shows the distribution of respondents according to their perception of the factors responsible for females’ involvement in drug use. According to the respondents, the major factors are social factors. Under this category, 359 respondent expressed agreement, which represents 197.0% of the total sample. The second major factor is personal factor. In this care 250 (125.6%) respondents expressed strong agreement. The third factor of females involvement in drug use is psychological factor. The last possible factor is family factor.
