Finding revealed that this hypothesis was accepted. This implies
that age difference is not significant in the perception of factors
responsible for females involvement in drugs use. It was revealed that
calculated t-value 1.26. This indicates that there is significant
difference between females below 21 years and 22 – 30 years of age. This
could be supported by National Drug Strategy Household survey (2001)
that stated that the highest rate of drug use were among 2-.10 29 years
old for both females and males (31%) and 40% respectively).
Hypothesis three stated that there is no significant difference in the
determinants of females involvement in drugs use as perceived by
respondents on the basis of marital status. This hypothesis was tested
using t-test. The result was shown in tables 12 from the result of the
findings, there was no significant difference between respondent from
intact parents and divorced/separated parents of undergraduates
perception of factors responsible for females involvement in drug use.
It was revealed that the calculated t-value of 0.31 is less than
critical t-value of 1.96 one can conclude from the findings that there
was no significant difference in the factors responsible for females
involvement in drug use as perceived by respondents on the basis of
martial status of parents respondents agreed that personal, social,
psychological and family factors are factors responsible for females
involvement in drug use.
Hypothesis four stated that there is
no significant difference in the determinants of females involvement in
drug use as perceived by respondents on the basis of religion. This
hypothesis was tested using t-test. The result was shown in table 13.
From the result of the findings there was no significant difference
between Christian and Muslim undergraduate perception of factors
responsible for females’ involvement in drugs use. It revealed that the
calculated t-value 0.97 is less than the critical t-value of 1.96.
Ideally speaking all norms of religions (Christian, Islam and others) do
not seem to support drug use, however, the observation in the findings
though seems to indicates difference might be due to inculcation of
culture into the religions beliefs and practices.
