Hypothesis Testing
Hypothesis 1: There is no significant difference in the influence of polygamy and the behaviour patterns of in-school adolescents as expressed by secondary school teachers on the basis of gender.
Table 6 presents data on the mean, standard deviation and t- value of respondents’ on the basis of gender. The table shows that the calculated t-value of 0.10 is less than the critical t- value of 1.98 at 0.05 level of significance. On this basis, the null hypothesis which states that there is no significant difference in the influence of polygamy and the behaviour patterns of in-school adolescents as expressed by secondary school teachers on the basis of gender accepted.
Hypothesis 2: There is no significant difference in the influence of polygamy on the behaviour patterns of in-school adolescents as expressed by secondary school teachers on the basis of religion.
Table 7 presents data on the mean, standard deviation and t-value of respondents’ on the basis of religion. The table shows that the calculated t-value of 1.73 is less than the critical t-value of 1.98 at 0.05 level of significance. On this basis, the null hypothesis which states that there is no significant difference in the influence of polygamy and the behaviour patterns of in-school adolescents as expressed by secondary school teachers on the basis of religion is accepted.
