Hypotheses Testing
In this study, six research hypotheses were formulated and tested using inferential statistics of t-test and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at 0.05 level of significance. The results of the analysis are presented below:
Hypothesis One:
There is no significant difference in the patterns of juvenile delinquency as expressed by secondary school students in Ibarapa Local Government Area on the basis of gender.
Table 4 represents the difference in male and female respondents’ expression on patterns of juvenile delinquency. The table shows that the calculated t-value of .94 is less than the calculated t-value of 1.96 with a corresponding p-value of .35 which is greater than 0.05 level of significance. This indicates that no significant different exists, hence; the null hypothesis is retained. Therefore, there is no significant difference in the patterns of juvenile delinquency as expressed by secondary school students in Ibarapa Local Government Area on the basis of gender.
