Hypothesis Six:
There is no significant difference in the causes of juvenile delinquency as expressed by secondary school students in Ibarapa Local Government Area on the basis of residential area.
Table 9 represents the difference in respondents’ expression on causes of juvenile delinquency based on residential area. The table shows that the calculated t-value of 4.32 is greater than the calculated t-value of 1.96 with a corresponding p-value of .00 which is less than 0.05 level of significance. This indicates that significant different exists, hence; the null hypothesis is rejected. Therefore, there is significant difference in the causes of juvenile delinquency as expressed by secondary school students in Ibarapa Local Government Area on the basis of residential area.
Summary of Findings
The following marks the summary of findings of the study:
The findings of this study revealed that the major patterns of juvenile delinquency among secondary schools in Ibarapa Local Government Area are school violence, examination malpractice, bullying of other students, sexual immorality, involvement in graffiti behaviour and using abusive language in school and public places. The findings also revealed that juvenile delinquency among secondary schools in Ibarapa Local Government Area is caused by negative influence of mass media, unmet needs of adolescents, broken home, single parenting and peer pressure.
• There is no significant difference in the patterns of juvenile delinquency as expressed by secondary school students in Ibarapa Local Government Area on the basis of gender.
• There is no significant difference in the causes of juvenile delinquency as expressed by secondary school students in Ibarapa Local Government Area on the basis of gender.
• There is no significant difference in the patterns of juvenile delinquency as expressed by secondary school students in Ibarapa Local Government Area on the basis of age.
• There is significant difference in the causes of juvenile delinquency as expressed by secondary school students in Ibarapa Local Government Area on the basis of age.
• There is significant difference in the patterns of juvenile delinquency as expressed by secondary school students in Ibarapa Local Government Area on the basis of residential area.
