The Relationship Between Parental Academic Background And Primary School Pupils’ Academic Performance
[A CASE STUDY OF SAKI-WEST.] -
-
-
As shown by the figure 4.5, slightly more than half of the pupils (52.3%) who participated in the study indicated that their parents didn’t have any formal education. A few of the students however indicated that their parents had primary level of education whereas 15.9% of them indicated that their parents had only acquired a secondary certificate as their highest education qualification. This is an indication, that the most of the parents in the area under study lack basic educational exposure and this may affect the academic performance of pupils. The pupils were further asked to indicate their extent of agreement on various statements regarding the influence that the parental level of education had on their academic performance.
Key: SA- Strongly Agree, A- Agree, D- Disagree, SD- Strongly Disagree.
