    • Table 4.4 shows that slightly more than a third of the students (35.8%) agreed that they performed very well since their parents helped them in doing their homework after school. On the other hand, 33.8% of the students strongly disagreed with the statement whereas  1.2% of them disagreed. This is an indication that despite the fact that some parents may have attained education, still they do not fully engage themselves in assisting their children to do their school assignments.
      Majority of the pupils (69.5%) strongly disagreed with the statement that their parents never attended school, hence did not bother about their academic performance in school. Additionally, a few of them (16.6%) also disagreed with the statement. When asked to indicate whether their parents checked their books and home works, majority of the pupils either strongly agreed (30.5%) or agreed (40.4%).
      However, a few of them (29.1%) were negative to the statement by disagreeing and strongly disagreeing respectively. Slightly more than two thirds of the pupils were positive to the statement that their parents/guardians visit the school to monitor my academic progress by either strongly agreeing (31.1%) or agreeing (37.7%).

      Table 5 shows that all the pupils interviewed are below 11 years.
      4.5 Influence of Parental Education Level on Academic Performance of Pupils
      This study was set to determine how the educational level of parents influenced the academic performance of students in public primary schools in Shaki west LG. To answer this objective, there are a number of items that were looked into. This study intended to find out the educational level of parents or guardians of the pupils. As such, the pupils were asked the educational level of their parents/guardians. The educational levels included primary, secondary, post education, university and any other.
